I’ve been wanting to start a blog dedicated to my transition from active duty Navy to being a full time student for a while now. It wasn’t until an old friend from boot camp invited me to like his blog (@alookatdadlife). We started a conversation about the experience and he shared an audiobook with me. After that I decided that I was going to go for it. It is mostly to document my journey for myself, but I hope to be able to help others as they transition by learning from my experiences. If you’d like to be a part of my adventure, give my page a follow on IG, and Facebook: @shiftingvectors. I’m still working on the actual website.
For those who don’t know me personally. I have been active duty Navy since 2009. I made PO1 in six years, so I am not getting out because I couldn’t hack it per se. I never intended on staying Navy this long, but different circumstances led me to where I am now. You could find my story in one of my blogs on this site. I have deployed to the Middle East twice (Afghanistan, and Bahrain), boots on ground with an EOD Mobile Unit. I have never been attached to a ship (I know, I am lucky, right?). As I said above, I hope that my story will be beneficial to anyone who is going to separate from the service or thinking about it. There is a lot of negativity around service members separating from the service – especially for someone who has made PO1 fast and has dedicated a decade to service – #HalfWayThereBroJustStayIn! I am pretty nervous about the transition, but I am more excited than anything. So, if you are planning on separating from the service, follow my story so that you could learn from my experiences.
I appreciate the support and welcome!
